2023 DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT

LTC Maribel Munoz Lee

LTC Lee was born in Dominican Republic. She attended Telecommunication Arts and Technology High School, where she became the News Paper Editor and a Member of the Debate Team. LTC Lee was placed in the foster care system and transferred to Newtown HS where she graduated with Honors. LTC Lee attended Hofstra University and joined the Army before graduating. In March 1999, She joined the Army as a Private First class, 92A (Automated Logistic Specialist). She left active duty four years later to finish her degree. 

LTC Lee commissioned in June of 2005 as an Ordnance Officer through Fordham University and received her Bachelor in English with Honors from New York City University. LTC Lee’s first job as a 1LT was Ground Support Platoon Leader in the 596TH Maintenance Company Non-DIV, Germany. She deployed to Iraq with the 596th MT CO. While deployed, LTC Lee oversaw installing protective armor on combat vehicles. Upon redeployment she took command of 69th Transportation CO., 28 Trans BN, 18th MP BDE. After command, LTC Lee attended the Captains Career Course (CCC) for Logistic Officers. She, then, served as both the Deputy to the Support Operations Officer and the Operations Officer (S3) to the 188th Brigade Support Battalion, 18th Fires BDE. LTC Lee left FT Bragg and attended the Theater Logistic Planning Course (TLOG), and obtained her Master’s Degree in Management with concentration in Logistics, from Florida Institute of Technology. After TLOG, she served as the Plans Chief (S5) to the 1ST Sustainment BDE, 1st ID.

She deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 as the Joint Acquisition Officer for the NATO Special Forces Element, in Afghanistan SOJTF-A, in charge of validating and defending contract requirements for Special Forces. After redeployment, LTC Lee attended the Combined General Staff College (CGSC). After graduating from CGSC, she served as the Materiel Readiness Branch Chief, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (3RD ESC), XVIII ABN Corps in charge of XVIII ABN Corps equipment readiness. LTC Lee then served as the Executive Officer (XO) and Support Operations Officer (SPO) for the 264TH Combat Service Support Battalion (264th CSSB), 3RD ESC. While in 264th CSSB, LTC Lee provided disaster relief during Hurricane Matthew, Florence and Maria as well as provided support to border operations in Texas and Arizona.

LTC Lee’s military education and certification include Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Logistic Captain Career Course, Command and General Staff Course, Theater Logistic Planning Course, Demonstrated Master Logistician, Support Operations Officer Course, Joint Operational Planner Course.

LTC Lee is a devoted mother to Penelope 24 and Joseph 11.
