2023 DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT

SSgT Cassandra Caballero

Staff Sergeant Cassandra A. Caballero is a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist assigned to the 71st Healthcare Operations Squadron, Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma.  She is 28 years old and was born in Harlingen, Texas, on 22 July 1994.  Sergeant Caballero attended Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas, graduating in June 2012.  After graduation, she attended Brookhaven Community College and worked at a local cantina.  She subsequently enlisted in the Air Force and arrived at Lackland AFB, Texas in August 2013 for Basic Military Training.  Upon graduation, she attended the Medical Education and Training Campus for the Radiologic Technologist program, and graduated Phase I in March of 2014.  Sergeant Caballero then attended Phase II at Nellis AFB, Nevada, where she graduated in December of 2014.  She then proceeded to her first duty station in January of 2015 to Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, where she performed duties as a Diagnostic Imaging apprentice.  While stationed there, she performed as the interim Non-Commissioned Office in Charge for the 366th Surgical Operations Squadron.  In January of 2020, she deployed to the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron at Al Udied Air Base, Qatar in support of OPERATIONS INHERENT RESOLVE and FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.  Then in January 2021, she arrived to Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma and assumed her current position as a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist.  Her military awards include the 2022 Air Force Medical Service Diagnostic Imaging Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, Air and Space Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal with one Service Star, Air and Space Expeditionary Service Ribbon, and the United States Air Force Non-Comissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon.  She currently attends Weber State University pursuing her certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  She is married to Zachary A. McMasters of Beaverdale, Pennsylvania, and they have two dogs: Gatsby and Archer.
